Typographic notes

Setting Caslon on archival rag

Selecting typefaces for physical literature demands balancing line density against tactile paper absorption. For our forthcoming winter releases, we set every page in traditional Caslon punches, allowing ink squash to ground each character cleanly across uncoated cream sheets.

Our paper arrives from a two-century-old mill, milled with cotton rag content that resists degradation and accepts deep bite under heavy platen pressure. Each finished volume preserves the subtle dimensional emboss of the metal letters rather than flat commercial toner.
